More information on the LG G6

Despite not revealing any details at CES, more information has been confirmed for the latest addition in the G-series mobile devices. Modulatory will not be a feature returning from last year’s G5. LG performed poorly in 2016 as the market appeal of modular phones wasn’t as exciting as manufacturers thought. Motorola, however, managed to perform well enough as their design was well executed. Google’s Project Ara sadly, became cancelled with their focus shifting to other departments in technology.

In Korea Herald’s article, they received confirmation from LG that the new phone will have a unique display. At a 18:9 screen ratio and higher resolution screen of 1440 x 2880 with 564 pixels-per-inch. The phone is said to have a 5.7 inch display with the QHD+ resolution that has a higher screen-to-body ratio. In addition, new technology from LG’s Display department is said to feature their proprietary technology called, In-Touch. It is said to embed the touch sensor into the LCD display itself rather than having a touch sensor panel thus reducing thickness. Decreasing the screens thickness down to approximately 1 mm and smaller bezels required for it. Overall, the new In-Touch display will help outdoor usage with a slightly brighter screen, improved battery consumption, and can still work with a cracked screen. Finally, the phone is slated to launch next month, possibly nearing Mobile World Congress. LG is raising the stakes going against Samsung and others for an amazing 2017.

We’ll see what more information and images they reveal nearing the launch.
