Upcoming Changes to Valve’s Steam Service

Entering 2019, Valve reflects on the previous years’ growth of the popular content delivery platform.  Boasting 90 million monthly active users. They mention some of the obstacles it had overcome prior to 2018. Focusing on the new features that helps users to understand the market better. In addition, social media features such as embedding content to pages and the new Steam Chat system. Astonishingly, Steam’s heavy usage on content brought a total of 15.39 exabytes of data to customers. Understand this, an exabyte is one billion gigabytes or ten million terabytes. That is a load of data as games are increasing in data size as technology improves.

Fortunately, for this year Steam has planned on features to help improve it in a more competitive industry. Improving store discoverability with machine learning to avoid mistakes on random searches. An expansion into China with better support in that growing market space. Updates to the Steam library and social media features.
