Tesla Announces Pricing and Structural Changes

With a countdown posted earlier for a 2 pm reveal that caused everything to be temporarily unavailable. The long awaited $35,000 Tesla Model 3 has finally been released. However, it came with caveats that is leading to mass store closures for an online-only buying experience. Elon Musk stated this was required to lower pricing for the company’s vehicle line-up. Starting with the Tesla Model 3, there’s now 6 versions starting from $35,000 to $58,000:

  • Standard Range with 220 miles: $35,000
  • Standard Range Plus with 240 miles: $37,000
  • Mid Range with 264 miles: $40,000
  • Long Range with 325 miles: $43,000
  • Long Range AWD with 310 miles: $47,000
  • Performance AWD with 310 miles: $58,000

The colors and wheels are still about the same, as well as the interior. Pricing variations above has a difference on the seating material, audio system and more. Return of Full Self-Driving Capability as an option is priced at $5,000 while Autopilot is $3,000. With the cheapest model and full self-driving, the price rises to $43,000 before the savings kick in. However, it is a fantastic day to grab the $35,000 version. Musk stated in 2-3 years, there will be an even cheaper version that’ll push the masses to go EV.

There is a price reduction for the Tesla S and X models announced today. Standard range for both are $79,000 and $88,000 respectively. While the top performance variant allows buyers to include Ludicrous mode as a $15,000 option.
