Firefox Glitching Out Its Extensions

Today, Firefox users have been noticing that their extensions aren’t working. The moment when they stopped working was when the clock turned on UTC (or GMT, Greenwich Mean Time). A certificate that the browser uses had expired.

We’re sorry that there is currently an issue where existing and new add-ons are failing to run or be installed on Firefox. We know what the issue is and are working hard to restore add-on functionality to Firefox as soon as possible. We’ll continue to provide updates via our Twitter channels. Please bear with us while we get the problem fixed.

Product Lead Kev Needham’s statement to Engadget

Temporary Fix:
Fortunately, there is a workaround but only for users of Firefox Developer or a Nightly build. Going to “about:config” and set “xpinstall.signatures.required” to false. This will allow your extensions to continue working again.
