New information has been released regarding Volkswagen’s electric vehicle. Named ID.3, which has been open to preorders in Europe. The car will be available in three versions based on battery size that’ll increase the range. Starting at €30,000 with a range of 330 kilometers with a 45kWh battery, for Americans that’ll be $33,600 and 200 miles. For the other versions, it will have 58kWh and 77kWh batteries. At 58kWh, it’ll have a range of 420 kilometers or 261 miles. While 77kWh will be more comfortable range of 550 kilometers or 342 miles.
The preorders will require a €1,000 deposit which is $1,118 USD. Production will start at the end of this year and deliveries for European customers in mid-2020. Unfortunately, pricing information for the latter versions weren’t announced yet. Another announcement will be coming forth later in the year.
These vehicles will have software updates that’ll improve the vehicle during its lifetime. Information regarding the distribution of the software weren’t revealed. In addition, the vehicle’s battery life has a warranty for eight years, 160,000 kilometers or 100,000 miles, or the deprecation of the battery to 70 percent. In safety technology, the vehicle will have advanced driver assistance technology.
