Apple’s WWDC 2019 Reveals: iOS

The tech giant unveiled the newest software and a hardware update this morning.

With the upcoming iOS 13 update having several needed updates. Such as Dark Mode that is designed to improve aesthetic and battery performance.

Camera app will receive improvements with their portrait mode to change the intensity settings. As well as a monochromatic effect in portrait mode. The photo app improves on the curation by minimizing the same types of photos based on location, mode and time. In addition, new tools being added to photo editing is being added to video editing.

In terms of security, Apple is pushing back against apps tracking users through email. Providing a kind-of throwaway email that won’t impede on users with constant tracking. Using their ‘Sign in with Apple’, it is a welcome feature.

Maps is getting better by using augmented reality to have navigators get a better visual of their destination or route. Having the ability to create a 3D environment of locations, you’re able to use your iPhone/iPad device to have a 360 degree vision. The app will have more detailed information about locations like parks, beaches and surroundings.

For Siri, they’re upgrading it by using neural technology instead of a voice actor. Allowing Siri to sound more human than ever with correct pronunciation. Siri will have more third-party support that’ll increase its ability. It will also be able to detect multiple voices and determine who is who. In other audio based news, AirPods will have the ability to share with another person using their AirPods to listen to the same content.

A feature that’s been in Android for years is coming to iOS. The ability to swipe-type on the keyboard. A great addition to quickly create sentences and send out text messages. Another application that is receiving a needed upgrade is Reminders. By using Siri and artificial intelligence, creating lists that’s integrated in the operating system. It also has a quick toolbar that’ll intelligently tell what you want to include such as location, time, documents and such.

Apple is improving the CarPlay experience by having their UI easier to use. With easy to navigate buttons on one screen to swipe the map, music, navigation and more. It also has the Calendar app that’ll allow you to quickly press navigate on an upcoming meeting or event. The new Music app will display album artwork which is something that was quite popular before. A welcome addition that looks beautiful with artist’s albums on display.
