Dark Phoenix Review

With the last movie in the X-Men franchise by 20th Century Fox coming out today. We see a retelling of the Dark Phoenix story after the previous failure of X-Men: The Last Stand. Hoping to see an improvement from the new reboot cast after several successful films and hiccups. This one doesn’t hit the mark despite the excellent performances of James McAvoy, Sophie Turner and Michael Fassbender. With the new timeline, we learn that Jean Grey was brought up by Xavier in 1975 after an accident resulted in her parents death. In 1992, they travel on a mission to space where things go wrong. Jean Grey is left unconscious and her hidden potential becomes unlocked. Scaring everyone from what results in several factions in trying to kill her, use her, or save her. The film doesn’t feel as epic as The Last Stand did back in 2006. It feels more like a whimper than a celebratory send-off from what is the last Fox X-Men film.

It earns a 2 out of 5.
