Changes Coming To YouTube Allowing More Power For Users

After many years of trying to get the most views based on YouTube’s algorithms. The recommendation page that many users see is what the algorithm believes would match the user’s taste. Prior to the controversial changes on the main page, it was previously easier for the creator to quickly get to their subscribers when new videos were published. However, the algorithm would make mistakes and promote unrelated or inappropriate videos on the recommendation page. Users are allowed to click on the options tab to hit uninterested as well as state the reason. Where it would allow the system to improve the recommendation over time. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case as the system wouldn’t be able to correctly adjust. Leading to user complaints that YouTube has been facing over the years among other changes in their policies.

On their latest blog post, YouTube is announcing changes to the system yet again. Which they hope will make users a lot happier. By exposing some of the things behind the algorithm, you’ll see why it recommended some videos it believed would work. One of the things that it will have is separate tabs regarding topics and related videos. Allowing quick and relevant videos for users to jump into. The tabs will be on the homepage and also when watching videos. The next item is for the system to comply that you don’t want to watch a channel recommended by YouTube. It will hide that channel and will be viewable if you directly search for it, subscribe or on the trending tab. The last thing they will allow users to view is the reason why a video is recommended. Basing on other videos or channels that you watched which will have the video be relevant to them.

These changes will be coming activate today and over the next coming days. Which should improve the quality of life for using YouTube. Hopefully, this would allow creators to easily reach more of their subscribers as the noise is lessened.
