Midsommar Review

Midsommar is the latest film behind Hereditary’s Ari Aster directorial works. It stars Florence Pugh as Dani who is grieving the loss of her family and the deterioration of her relationship with Chris played by Jack Reynor. Chris is a graduate student who, along his colleagues have been planning a trip to Sweden for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Dani tags along in hopes of improving their relation between the two. Arriving at the village, there are a lot of psychedelics to be had and celebration. Things begin to become stranger and stranger as the traditions behind the event present themselves to the foreign students. The mysterious disappearances of the students slowly begin to unravel as only Chris and Dani are left. Dani unsuspectingly joins the cult while Chris is left to fornicate one of the village girls taken a fancy on him. Midsommar is a great film to watch as the popular foreigner entering a mysterious village troupe remains fresh.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
