Porsche Announces Their First EV, Taycan

Starting at $150,900, the German auto-manufacturer has unveiled their first step into the electric vehicle world. Calling it Taycan, which will come in two versions as the Turbo and Turbo S. For the Turbo S, comes a price increase to $185,000, more horsepower and better acceleration. Both come with a 93kWh battery pack that’ll give it about 450 Kilometers, converted to Imperial is 280 miles. However, that isn’t the official estimate and we’ll learn more about it later. For charging, Porsche developing their own fast-charging technology. Quickly charging from 5 percent to 80 percent from 270kW chargers in just 23 minutes. Porsche stated there will be 350kW chargers being used for their charging network.

Porsche believes that Taycan’s price will lower below $100,000 overtime. Competing against Tesla’s Model S and X, as well as other EV carmakers. Volkswagen, parent company of Porsche, is set to push for their own line-up of EV’s to help bring in demand on theirs. Release date is said to be available later this year.
