Hustlers Review

Hustlers opened this week, as a crime drama that appears like a possible chick-flick. However, the great performances of Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez as Dorothy and Ramona counters that statement. Both are strippers at a club in New York City undergoing financial strains. The film revolves around the time of the Great Recession of 2008. Ramona brings Dorothy a new-comer under her wing and both help each other. They concoct a scheme of using their wealthy clients to use their money to purchase valuables and other items for the girls. We see the story unfold as reporter Elizabeth, played by Julia Stiles gets the story on both Ramona and Dorothy. Now both estrange from what had unfolded and spiraled into several arrests and sentences. Hustlers is a great film to watch that is unexpectedly a sleeper hit with big name stars.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
