State Of Digital Void TV – 3/14/2020

As of last week, we have a new theme (Manticore from RocketThemes) for our website. It replaces the previous theme (GoodGames from Planetshine) we had before we reverted to the original one (Singl from Automattic). Trying to find a modern theme that sticks to today’s design trends that supports several functions we’re using and looking to expand in the future. It’s still currently a work-in-progress with new pages being setup for the different functions we’re going to be using. Such as having the ability to display our reviews, online store, live-streaming and more. Older posts are being updated to correctly reflect its tags, categories and possibly reducing image resolution on those posts to improve website loading times.

Here’s a preview of our logo as a work-in-progress. Eliminating the full text to just the initials. However, I’m still playing around with the idea of a background if there’ll be one.

We’ve setup new social medias’ to help you follow us more efficiently. Pretty much a new clean slate, since the previous format was a garbled mess. Unless necessary like critical posts, our Twitter page won’t have absolutely every post we put out. Currently as of this writing, we have three forms of social media for you, Twitter, Instagram and Discord. Keeping it straight and simple. One for regular updates, another for image posts with stories, and the other to chat with us directly. We’ll be updating our Patreon to reflect these new accounts.

As of last June, if I recall correctly, we started posting twice daily. Currently, it’s a one-man-show where I’m pushing out relevant or do-able news. With a two-posts-a-day format, it’s easy to do. Aiming for three as one-person is difficult for various reasons. So it’ll remain like so until more people come on board. Good news though, we have planned content coming soon and that’ll not be part of our post limit. It should help bring in more traffic!

Which brings us into our next announcement. A previous endeavor that I was personally doing for a separate project will be brought into the Digital Void TV fold. It’s a YouTube channel called Locked in Fear, which focused on all things horror. You know, Void in Digital Void which sounds spooky so it’s sort of fitting. Its contents were ‘Let’s Play’s, short films and other planned horror content that’ll be brought over. As of today its been dormant due to personal reasons. Yet with our planned content for that programming block, that should no longer be the case. Down below is currently an idea on what that content is, note a lot are still placeholders and just an idea:

Preview Of Our Planned Content
  • Movies & Locations’: A 30 to 45-minute video format that’ll focus on horror films. Going on-location to where these films were shot and show the viewer how the sands of time have changed the location from the time of filming. As well as showing a recreation through the magic of software to give you a better understanding of the comparison. It’ll also give you information on the history of the production of the film and more. Pretty much a Hollywood behind-the-scenes documentary and analysis of the films.
  • Rituals’: A 30 to 45-minute video format that’ll focus on rituals or games of the supernatural. Providing information on the history behind them and actual demonstration of them being performed. Yes, I understand the implications that might happen yet going with a skeptical mindset. All for info-tainment.
  • Haunted Locations’: A 30 to 45-minute video format that’ll focus on actual or reportedly haunted locations. Going on-location to these spooky places to record audio and video of our experiences. Note, we’ll be going with a skeptical mindset to record basic footage and audio and after careful research behind these locations. We’ll return to seek out anything that we may have missed out to intentionally capture them. Using the research we have, we’ll be providing information behind the history of these locations and why it’s haunted. All for info-tainment as well.
  • Topics’: A 30 to 45-minute video format that’ll focus on topics of horror. Such as clowns, ghosts, vampires, cemeteries and more. Even locations or events regarding topics of horror such as Universal Monsters or Halloween to give you an idea. Having researched them to provide a history and analysis of these topics. Another item that’ll be included in this series will be video games of the horror genre. However, those videos will be focused on the development of those games and what the developers had intended or got inspired by.
  • Return to Let’s Plays’: Before becoming dormant, Locked in Fear had a series of video games being played. That’ll return and all of them is based on horror of course.
  • Short Films: Another content that was featured on Locked in Fear was short horror films. That’ll return and all of them is based on horror too. There will be other genres of short films too. Yet, it’ll carry the Locked in Fear brand until we figure out the correct approach. Personal opinion, I don’t think it would be correct to carry the Digital Void TV brand for these genres either.

We would like to note, to add more kick to these planned content. It’ll also be provided in an audio and written article format. We’ll be exploring options into including potential guests in these videos. Such as film crew members, historians, officials, local residents and more. To possibly legalize these content for monetary and non-monetary routes, we’ll be exploring options to receive licensing rights to use music, footage and such from the content we’re covering.

Returning to the focus of Digital Void TV. We also have several planned content for that programming block. If you may have forgotten, this website and the brand has been inspired by the ill-fated G4 TV that’s owned by Comcast’s NBC-Universal. So our planned content is directly from that. Here’s the list:

  • DigitalVoidTV: A planned hour long live-streaming show that’s directly inspired by ‘G4TV.com’. That show focused on today’s topics, brought in guests from the industry, had callers ask questions or voice their opinions. It’s hosts were and still are important media figures in the industry with years of experience and personal opinion, entertaining. We’re planning on doing the same thing, minus our current irrelevancy.
  • The Hype: A planned hour long live-streaming show that’s directly inspired by ‘Attack Of The Show’ and ‘X-Play’. Those shows focused on industry news, reviewed content, brought in guests from the industry, internet content and entertainment from its hosts in general. It’s hosts were and still are important media figures in the industry with years of experience and personal opinion, entertaining too. We’re planning on doing the same thing, minus our current irrelevancy. However, it’s planned to have a split to two shows in the future to be more like those two shows. It might not happen if the direction is actually great.
  • Cinematech’: A planned 30-minute video format that’s inspired from the original show. Where it focused on all things video games’ trailers, cutscenes, gameplay and more. All finely tuned in an episode that was relaxing. We’re planning on doing the same thing.
  • Cheat!’: A planned 30-minute video format or potentially live-streamed that’s inspired from the original show. Where it focused on cheat-codes and walkthrough for those difficult moments in games. We’re planning on doing the same thing.
  • Icons’: A planned 30 to 45-minute video format that’s inspired from the original show. However, depending on how our Locked in Fear programming block’s ‘Movies & Locations’ and ‘Topics’ do. It’ll go off with those in a combined format. Focusing on the gaming industry developers, publishers and games as the episodes’ topics. In addition, it also might have a ‘television movie’ covering a topic where it becomes dramatized. Those will be special episodes that we’re planning on doing.
  • Arena’: A planned 30-minute video format or potentially live-streamed that’s inspired from the original show. Where it focused on two teams of gamers competing through several games. In its original format, all of the gamers were locals and fans of the series. Where popular games of the time were used for the competition. We’re planning on doing the same thing.

On top of these while they’re being developed. Movie reviews will be returning and gradually be used for our planned content, which most likely will be DigitalVoidTV and The Hype. Game and product reviews will be coming soon and will also be gradually used for our planned content. There is other shows that we’d like to bring in being inspired by G4 TV, but this current line-up are do-able and more concrete. Currently we have our YouTube and Twitch page set up. We’ll be looking into Vimeo, Mixer and other forms to find monetary ways to continue running. We also have our Patreon page set up and it will be under-going an update to reflect today’s announcements and changes. With our Patreon page up, it’ll be our current focus on monetary funding where we’ll allow our patrons to have access to the planned content before everyone else can view them. It’s full steam ahead! We hope you are excited as we are!
