AMD Reveals Radeon RX 6000 Series

The Big Red company has been clapping back against team Blue and now Green is on the receiving end. AMD’s Lisa Su announced their newest graphics cards, the 6000 series. Three cards to be exact and they’re really a bang for your buck.

All three cards feature the newest RDNA 2 built on the 7nm process, that brings a significant performance boost to previous generation. New features coming to these cards are AMD Infinity Cache, Smart Access Memory, and Raytracing. Infinity Cache allows better performance through it’s on-die cache of 128 MB by lowering latency and power consumption. Smart Access Memory works well with AMD Ryzen’s newest processors. Giving the 6000 series graphics card direct access to your system’s memory to give a small boost in performance. It also carries a ‘Rage Mode’ that brings out overclocking through a button on AMD’s software. Raytracing is supported by the 6000 series’ compute units and done with software instead of hardware like nVidia. Using Microsoft’s DirectX Raytracing to do the math.

AMD Radeon RX 6800, priced at $579 USD. It is designed to compete against nVidia’s 3070 which is priced at $499 USD. Prospective buyers should take into account of the $80 USD difference. However, you are getting 8 GB more of VRAM compared to the 3070’s 8 GB space. Proving useful for users who’d want to increase settings for their games. Here’s what the RX 6800 contains:

  • Compute Units: 60
  • Boost Clock (GHz): 2.105
  • Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
  • Length: 267 mm
  • Width: Unavailable
  • Height: 2 Slot
  • Power (Watts): 250
  • Available on 18th November

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, priced at $649 USD. It is designed to compete against nVidia’s 3080 which is priced at $699 USD. That is a $50 USD difference, but like the 6800’s situation. You are getting 6 GB more VRAM compared to the 3080. AMD isn’t pulling any punches in this comparison. Here’s what the RX 6800 XT contains:

  • Compute Units: 72
  • Boost Clock (GHz): 2.25
  • Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
  • Length: 267 mm
  • Width: Unavailable
  • Height: 2.5 Slot
  • Power (Watts): 300
  • Available on 18th November

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, priced at $999 USD. It is designed to compete against nVidia’s 3090 which is priced at an eye-watering $1,499 USD. That card is barely available to purchase and it’s hoping that AMD won’t have the same issue. The 6900 XT was able to go toe-to-toe with the 3090 in AMD’s presentation. Using their upcoming Ryzen processor and turning on Smart Access Memory and Rage Mode during their tests. There’s a $500 USD difference here, unfortunately for the 6900 XT. You sacrifice 8 GB of VRAM compared to the 3090. If it’s important for users to have that extra 8GB that’ll prove useful for 4K gaming and high-refresh rate. Take that consideration. Here’s what the 6900 XT contains:

  • Compute Units: 80
  • Boost Clock (GHz): 2.25
  • Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
  • Length: 267mm
  • Width: Unavailable
  • Height: 2.5 Slot
  • Power (Watts): 300
  • Power Connectors: 2x PCIe 8-Pin
  • Available on 8th December
