Released this week, episode 68 of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Brave Volunteers’. We follow the Scouts, learn more backstory behind Yelena and the defectors. A time jump three years prior, the Scouts are still vulnerable and wary of a counter-attack by Marley. They use Eren and Armin to capture Marleyan scout ships and force Marleyan soldiers to give them information and assistance or worse. To the Scouts surprise and what leads up to the present time is Yelena leading a mutiny against her commander. Willingly offer any information and supplies to help Scouts quickly prepare for what Zeke Yeager offers as a solution. The episode doesn’t feel like a filler but a necessary one to have us ready for what’s coming. ‘Brave Volunteers’ is a great episode that now places sympathy to the Scouts in what appeared as a complete terrorist attack prior.
