Released this week, episode 70 of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Deceiver’. We follow Gabi and Falco who manage to escape from their cell and are found by a girl who’s family takes them in. Gabi who firmly believes the residents of Paradis are the Devils, struggles with Falco on laying low and keeping up with their fake identities. The girl who brought them in, Kaya was aware that Gabi and Falco are from Marley. Yet she has no desire to report them and brings the two to her former home. Revealing she’s an orphan after a titan attack and was taken in by her current family. Gabi asserts Paradis are devils but Kaya pushes back by asking her why her mother had to die. Despite the innocence of having nothing to do with Eldian crimes. Kaya reveals that she wants to be like her savior, which is revealed to the audience as Sasha Braus. Awkward. The episode is really great as our young Warrior candidates learn first-hand the lives’ of Paradis residents. Who really is the devil? Is the question. ‘Deceiver’ is a great episode to watch that brings more meaning to the growing conflict.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
