Attack on Titan ‘Guides’ Review

Released this week, episode 71 of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Guides.’ We start with Armin talking to a crystallized sleeping Annie. Emerging from the holding cell, Armin and Hitch see sympathizers and protestors for Eren Jaeger are outside of the gates. Calling for his release as they see Eren as savior and leader for a New Eldian Empire. Things are getting really deep. We also learn more about Yelena’s motives and truths behind her alleged meeting with Eren. Later, Armin and Mikasa meet with Premier Zachary requesting to meet and reason with Eren. They are denied and told things look bleak for Eren’s future. Upon leaving, military police enter the office and it soon explodes. A flying half-torso Zachary lands near the gates, horrifying Hitch who’s trying to control the crowd. Soon after, reports emerge of Eren and Floch’s escape along with several hundred deserters, brought to leaders of the military branches attention. Dot Pyxis has become the new acting Premier and upon being asked for next move recommends to surrender to the so-called Jaegerists. Sides are starting to form as everyone now distrusts one another. Eren and his followers lead by Floch meet somewhere on the countryside. Eren tells them to help him find Zeke. Things become eerie as what possibly maybe the next move for the Jaegerists linger. The episode feels completely like a ticking-time bomb, pun intended. However, things are going to move to a new unexpected direction as the impending rumbling approaches. ‘Guides’ is a must watch as things become serious for Eldia/Paradis.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
