Attack on Titan ‘Savagery’ Review

Released this week after being delayed from an emergency broadcast in Japan, episode 73 of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Savagery.’ Immediately continuing from previous episode, Eren shows up suddenly with a desire to talk to his old pals. However, the conversation quickly turns into an attack on Mikasa and Armin. With poor Armin ending up beaten down in frustration against Eren’s hostility and mockery of Mikasa’s blind loyalty. Jumping back to Levi’s conversation with his comrades learning about the sudden events in the capitol. Zeke makes a run for it as he lets out a scream causing the surrounding scouts to turn into titans. Levi quickly deduces it was the wine that both high ranking officials and scout subordinates were raving about filled with Zeke’s spinal fluid. At first, Levi is apprehensive on killing his comrades turned titan leaving Zeke on a head start. Zeke thinking the same is quickly caught off-guard with the sudden appearance of Levi showing his strong resolve against Zeke. Levi takes out the titans who were with Zeke and rips him out of his own Beast Titan. Returning back to Shiganshina, Instructor Shadis is found by Floch and his group still holding Hange hostage. Floch instructs the recruits Shadis is training to join their cause and to prove loyalty by savagely beating Shadis. Which does happen and Paradis is left a mess. Military members learn something is wrong, especially the ones that ingested the prized wine. The coup continues and things left in tatters. ‘Savagery’ continues to raise the stakes regarding the plotline as we question, what will happen next?

It earns a 4 out of 5.
