My Hero Academia ‘Revival Party’ Review

Released this week, episode 109 of My Hero Academia premiered titled ‘Revival Party.’ We follow the League of Villains as they arrive to Deika City, they are guided by hero Slidin’ Go into the middle of the city. He explains to the League that for the Meta Liberation Army (MLA) to thrive, the League must perish even if they’re willing to negotiate. Immediately, Slidin’ Go welcomes the MLA’s Revival Party and ambush the League. However, the League quickly kills a few of the army members but become split as they’re overwhelmed. Practically, 90% of Deika City’s residents are MLA members and have been preparing their quirks for years. The focus at this moment is on poor Himiko Toga, she’s constantly attacked by MLA soldiers and a lieutenant named Curious. Who desires to use her quirk to interview Toga but she refuses. Curious’ quirk causes anything she touches to explode, even MLA soldiers willing to sacrifice themselves. Which results in Toga exploding within when she ingests blood of the soldiers and gets blasted again when the soldiers are ultimately detonated. For a split-moment, Toga ingests Ochaco Urakaka’s blood she had on her and touches all soldiers and Curious nearby. Her quirk evolves to allow her to use Ochaco’s Zero Gravity but gruesomely uses it. She allows everyone to fall to their deaths as blood splatters all over Toga. Next, Shigaraki becomes disoriented as he experiences a flashback to his childhood but isn’t really clear to him. He goes through the motions and his quirk also evolves. When touching a MLA soldier who was going to attack him, decays alongside the rest of nearby MLA soldiers. Spinner who’s nearby, becomes shocked at Shigaraki’s evolved quirk but inspires him and Dabi to continue fighting. Dabi engages with MLA soldier Geten, who has an ice quirk that can put up a fight against Dabi’s flame abilities. Back to Toga, Twice arrives and finds her bloody and unconscious on the floor. The two gets cornered by clones of Twice which begins to cause him to have an insane mental breakdown. Those clones are by Tomoyasu Chikazoku or Skeptic for short. ‘Revival Party’ continues the dramatic shift and perspective to our heroes, err- villains as they combat the Meta Liberation Army. It is incredibly action-packed, gory, bloody and just mind-blowingly insane. Just giving us more questions than answers as we root for these underdogs. Will Gigantomachia arrive in time?

It earns a 4 out of 5.
