My Hero Academia ‘Tomura Shigaraki: Origin’ Review

Released this week, episode 112 of My Hero Academia premiered titled ‘Tomura Shigaraki: Origin.’ We continue in the fight between Shigaraki and Re-Destro, with the former continuing to surprise the latter. Remembering his upbringing from being abused by his father and taken in by All For One. Shigaraki has been groomed to hate and become the embodiment of evil. In his flashback, All For One encouraged him completely and mentioning his tick of being itchy is his unrelenting desire to destroy. Re-Destro is desperate to takedown Shigaraki and uses Detnerat weaponry to give him the edge of increasing his stress levels to 150%. Which is something that can easily kill a powerful quirk user. Elsewhere, Gigantomachia has reached Deika City and easily dispatches Meta Liberation Army (MLA) warriors in his path. By the end of Shigaraki and Re-Destro’s fight, the former has released his mental block that affected his past and quirk’s potential. Annihilating a large area of the city and knocking Re-Destro far away who is close to accepting having to surrender. Before that happens, several MLA warriors arrive to backup Re-Destro against Shigaraki and potentially Gigantomachia. However, Re-Destro desires no more bloodshed and gives the army to Shigaraki. A week later, everyone is recuperating and the battle itself receives a cover story. Re-Destro and Shigaraki announce that the League of Villains and Meta Liberation Army will now become the Paranormal Liberation Front. League members become Lieutenants as well as Re-Destro, Skeptic, Trumpet and Geten. By episode’s end, Gigantomachia is loyal to Shigaraki with Doctor Ujiko now granting him power that’ll give him complete edge over everyone. ‘Tomura Shigaraki: Origin’ was a great episode as the season is nearing the end. We now learn about what happened that was teased several episodes ago. Complete devastation and horror to what our beloved heroes will face in those four months.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
