Attack On Titan ‘Judgement’ Review

Released this week, episode 76th of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Judgement.’ We start off the previous episode’s conclusion in which Zeke detonated the embedded thunder spear in his abdomen. Resulting in him getting killed and seemingly killing Levi as well. Hange examines him and tells Flock that Levi is dead from the shrapnel. The dead titan nearby begins to act weirdly and results in a revived Zeke emerging from the now skeleton of a titan. The shock gives Hange time to drag themself and Levi into the nearby river. Zeke remains shocked about his revival as well and tells Flock that he felt stuck in a limbo, seeing a young girl slowly building him back in what he believes is the Paths. Back to Shiganshina, where the standoff between Eren, Gabi and Pieck leaving us with the arrival of the Marleyean forces transported by blimps. They begin to parachute large amount of forces and supplies throughout the town. Eren ignores Yelena’s pleas to retreat, he decides to confront Reiner as he glides in his parachute closer to Eren. The desperate fight is quite intense with Eren amused of Reiner’s gamble of striking Paradis sooner than later. However, Eren’s Attack Titan is overwhelmed by the arrival of Galliard’s Jaw Titan with Eren using his War Hammer Titan’s power to create multiple spikes. It gives Eren a moment and allows nearby Jaegerists with thunder spears to attempt to take out Reiner and Galliard. However, now General Magath brought a new weapon specially designed against the Attack Titan to fire at a long-distance which is planted on top of Pieck’s Cart Titan’s back. The sudden introduction of the blast and weapon leaves the Attack Titan and Jaegerists open. Marleyean soldiers on the rooftops brutally kill the Jaegerists, even having the blimps begin to fire hell on them. The sudden shift in the fight leaves Yelena and Onyankopon in utter shock. The latter runs to the jail cell containing Armin, Mikasa, Connie, Jean, Nicolo and others. Begging them to help Eren and the Jaegerists as they’re being slaughtered. An enraged Connie holds Onyankopon by the wall and desires not to help their cause and leave them dead. However, Armin wants to hear Onyankopon’s plea as he was never aware of the euthanization plan. That there should be another way, perhaps the rumbling may help give Paradis the 50 years they originally sought. Outside, a recovered Reiner uses the spike he was impaled with to do the same favor to Eren who lets out a roar.

‘Judgement’ starts the second part of the finale season of Attack on Titan firing on all cylinders. Leaving us wondering about the girl in the Paths and what happened. The massive slaughter of the Jaegerists which at this point leaving us rooting for not the Marleyeans, but for humanity. Now that Eren is pinned and roaring for dear life, what will Armin, Mikasa and company do in time to save him or leave him dead?

It earns a 4 out of 5.
