The Book Of Boba Fett ‘Return Of The Mandalorian’ Review

Released this week, episode of episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett premiered titled ‘Return of the Mandalorian.’ We start off at a meat packing plant worked under Klatooinians, Din Djarin collects his bounty as a decapitated head. Traveling on a station that looks like a crescent Halo-ring, he receives information about the whereabouts of his Mandalorian brethren. He learns about Bo-Katan Kryze’s story from the perspective of The Armorer; as well as The Great Purge depicting Night of a Thousand Tears, he is questioned and informed about his possession of the Darksaber. He then gives his Beskar spear to be melted as an offering for a foundling, asking for a specific one of Grogu. Which bag carrying the chainmail armor is absolutely adorable! Afterward, Paz Vizsla who is present and the other only remaining member challenges Djarin for the darksaber, believing that it should belong to a member of Clan Vizsla. Despite Djarin winning in the duel, upon revealing to The Armorer that he removed his helmet which isn’t ‘The Way.’ He is declared no longer a Mandalorian, though he did receive information on how to atone for his sin. Din Djarin then sets off to Tatooine to meet with Peli Moto, who had messaged him for a Razor Crest replacement. She reveals that the replacement is of a scrapped N-1 starfighter that needs to just be rebuilt with parts she has in possession. Djarin isn’t happy with the idea but Moto asks him to at least help her rebuild and then make the final decision. Throughout the rebuilding process, Djarin slowly gets closer to accepting the ship despite wanting an actual Razor Crest replacement. Moto tells him with her close, somewhat intimate relation with the Jawas to request any part he needs for the starfighter. He requests parts that help make him an absolute beast in speed with performance parts that somehow Jawas quickly and easily find. Amusingly surprising Djarin. Upon completion, Moto tells Djarin to take his ship for a drive. It flees out of Mos Eisley in blistering speed, he then flies it through a familiar canyon that Boonta Eve Podracing used as a course seen in The Phantom Menace. Flying up to space near a large transport ship, that action catches the eye of New Republic enforcement. Two X-Wings ask information from Djarin, it turns out that Captain Carson Teva is in one of the two X-Wings. Teva was seen previously in The Mandalorian, he asks Djarin if he ever encountered Imperial remnants recently but he uses the boost on his new ship to flight out of the questioning. Upon returning to Mos Eisley, Moto tells Djarin that someone who knows him came asking for him but Moto locked the person out. It turns out to be Fennec Shand, asking Djarin that she needs muscle and tosses a bag of credits. He tells her since its for Boba Fett, it’ll be on the house but he needs to pay a visit to a little friend.

‘Return of The Mandalorian’ is an absolutely great episode, though it’s an awkward one. We absolutely love Din Djarin and his show, but having a full episode of The Book Of Boba Fett as him as the main character. That’s a weird one. The show does seem to have an identity problem that is ongoing. Going from serious to silliness and now removing the spotlight from Boba Fett. Next episode appears to focus on Djarin finding and retrieving Grogu from Luke Skywalker, that might raise a few questions. Will Djarin attempting to do so in some form bring Luke Skywalker into Boba Fett’s situation regarding the upcoming Pyke War? Will Luke possibly help in that situation or things might go haywire leaving Boba Fett without Djarin? Overall, bringing a minor pause in the rollercoaster ride of a show is welcomed one.

It earns a 4 out of 5.
