Attack On Titan ‘Pride’ Review

Released this week, episode 83 of Attack on Titan premiered titled ‘Pride.’

In a flashback, Hange tearfully kills Scout soldiers who are pursuing them and Levi. Realizing they’re fugitives in either world that results in Marley or Jaegerists winning the battle. Sometime passes, Hange for a split moment is in the Paths and afterward Levi awakens. Telling him to rest as we transition to the moment the two met up with General Magath and Pieck. Calling for a uneasy alliance in order to take out Zeke Jaeger. Elsewhere, Falco is asleep as Conny is completely feeling guilt on what he believes he needs to do to save his mother. Asking Sasha if it’s alright. At day break, the two arrive to Ragako village where Conny’s mother has been stuck ever since in titan form. Falco slowly reveals that he overheard Conny the night before. Conny then tries to give an absolutely horrible excuse to get Falco near his titan mother’s mouth to get her back to normal. Fortunately, Armin and Gabi arrive in time as Conny grabs Falco and starts climbing a ladder up to the mouth. Despite pleading, Armin gets an idea to bluff Conny by attempting to sacrifice himself instead of Falco. Forcing Conny to drop Falco and save Armin mere moments from his mother’s snapping jaw. We then transition to Mikasa who pays a visit to Louise, who is injured from the battle at the fort from earlier. Mikasa briefly talks to her but achieves her main goal of retrieving her scarf that Eren gave her years ago. Somewhere in Shiganshina, Armin, Gabi, Falco and Conny eat up. Armin and Conny talk about finding Annie as they’re aware of all titans being stripped of armor. Lo-and-behold Annie, sitting right next to Armin engorging herself in pie. Conny teases her as Annie’s mouth stuffed in pie becomes absolutely embarrassed and Armin attempts to save face by ridiculing Conny. Soon after, the five of them meet with Mikasa as they head out of Shiganshina. At the fort, Floch and Jean are having a speech as they prepare to execute traitors to the new Eldian Empire. Yelena and Onyankopon are set to be executed as Floch explains the reasons behind each one’s need to be executed. Jean plays his role in an apparent plan by firing away from Oyankopon. Which signals the Cart Titan to snatch Jean, Yelena and Onyankopon away from the Jaegerists. The three recover by a river as Oyankopon asks Jean what changed his mind, which he says was made the previous night. Hange appears and explains that the only reason the Cart Titan helped is because Yelena needed to be recovered too. Cut to Yelena, her face is in dread as she hears General Magath’s voice as he’s absolutely furious at her.

‘Pride’ is another great episode that although continues the plot and may feel slow. Isn’t all too bad. Hange and Levi have screentime as we learn about what happened to them as they hid from Jaegerists. Feel satisfied in Conny doesn’t manage to sacrifice Falco to his titan mother, doubt the idiot which he called himself would’ve gone through with it. As well as, Mikasa who’s alone briefly manages to convince Jean to switch sides, meet up with Armin’s group and enact a plan to rendezvous with Hange’s group in a stunning move. Floch is absolutely enraged that Jean betrayed him as well as Mikasa, but did he really believe them to be on his side? Now the small group that are bent on stopping Eren from continuing the Rumbling, will the Jaegerists manage to catch up?

It earns a 3 out of 5.
