The Book Of Boba Fett ‘Stranger In A Strange Land’ Review

Released this week, episode 1 of The Book Of Boba Fett premiered titled ‘Stranger In A Strange Land.’ We start off with Boba Fett played by Temuera Morrison who’s in stasis in a bacta pod. He’s reliving the trauma that he’s endured throughout his life, from growing on Kamino, death of his father and especially waking up in the Sarlacc Pit. He manages to burn and claw his way out of the pit but took massive acidic burns throughout his armor and skin. A sandcrawler passes through the wreckages of Jabba’s skiff and take Boba’s armor, leaving him for dead. A group of Tusken Raiders arrive and find him barely alive, taking him prisoner. Boba awakens from his stasis as Fennec Shand played by Ming-Na Wen who prepares him for the day’s guests who present him with tributes. After a few offerings, an apparent threat, and new Gamorrean bodyguards the two head off to Mos Espa to make their presence as the new daiymo known. Things go well until they’re ambushed outside the cantina by unknown assassins. They’re nearly defeated until their Gamorrean bodyguards show up, proving their loyalty and help rescue Boba to place him back in stasis. Shand pursues the escaping assassins as Boba requested one alive. Once in stasis, Boba returns to his memory back on the Tusken camp. After having failed to escape earlier in the memory, a young Tusken child takes Boba and a Rodian prisoner in search of water in a form of a desert fruit. However, the young Tusken child accidentally took the group of prisoners on top of a dugged in resting desert creature in the form of an alien centaur. The hostile creature kills the Rodian prisoner and the young Tusken’s massif. Fortunately, Boba manages to strangle it with his chains and saves the young Tusken from near death. The two then return to camp as the young Tusken cries out victory while holding the skull of the creature. The Elder Tusken stands proud and gives his fruit water to Boba as a gift for saving the young Tusken. ‘Stranger In A Strange Land’ is a great start to the spin-off series of The Mandalorian. Being directed by Robert Rodriguez and helmed by Jon Favreau, the show contains the magic of that series as well as the continuing growing story of Boba Fett. For the next episode, we’ll soon find more information behind the assassin’s employer as Shand managed to take one alive. Also, Boba got his offerings stolen during the attack despite wishing to treat his new criminal domain with respect. Finally, his story seen in the flashbacks isn’t done as we are destined to see how Boba and Shand came together in their teamup. How did he escape or depart from the Tusken camp and who was that person robbed at the home stead?

It earns a 3 out of 5.
